First And Five – Week 4 Top 5 Fantasy Picks

First and Five will be a new feature were we showcase 5 fantasy football players that we like for the week. These players will not always be the top guys for the week, but ones that can make a difference on fantasy teams.

Often, there are times when certain situations allow a guy to move up in the ranks, but not necessarily a top producer, as well as times that we look for who will be on top of the boards for the week. In week 4, we’ve got some interesting match-ups that will certainly make or break some fantasy teams.

Here are the top 5 fantasy players that can make an impact in week 4

  • Trent Richardson – He is setup for a big game this week. For those owners that are thinking about benching him or not sure how much he’ll play, don’t be. Ahmad Bradshaw is out this week, and although Donald Brown will most likely see the field some, it will be Richardson mostly carrying the ball and the goal-line.  He is playing against the worst defense in the league at stopping the run. The Colts should be up in the game, which means plenty of Richardson late.  If he doesn’t get at least 20 carries with 90 yards and one touchdown, I’d be disappointed.
  • Ben Roethlisberger – It’s hard not to like him this week. He is playing against one of the worst passing defenses and Ben loves to throw the ball. He has his regular target back and his production is going up. Playing against a soft passing defense only helps his numbers even more. Last week he put up over 400 yards in the air and it’s quite possible that he could put another 300 yards or more in week 4.  The Vikings give up over 300 yards passing per game so those numbers are quite realistic. He should be in the top 10 for passing this week.  He currently ranks number 9 in average passing yards per game, and this week that could jump even higher.
  • Dez Bryant – What’s not to love about this match-up. Bryant is going against the worst passing defense in the league. Miles Austin is not playing. There is really no other deep receiver that Romo can throw the ball too so it should be a really good game for Dez. He could easily see his second 100 yard game of the season. Other than week 2, where he went off for 141 yards, his totals haven’t been all that great. He has scored 2 touchdowns on the year, both over the past 2 weeks, but it looks like he should be able to get into the end-zone again this week. Bold prediction for Bryant would be 9 catches for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  • Ray Rice – If he is able to go this week, I’d say it’s a good time to play him. He is going against a defense that is giving up over 150 yards on the ground per game.  This would be the ideal match-up to get him back on track and make fantasy owners happy. He hasn’t quite been the high draft pick value that most had  hoped he would be. He hasn’t even broken 50 yards rushing in a game this year, but that could change this weekend. He has been practicing this week, and is listed as a game-time decision, but it looks like he could play and that is great news for fantasy owners.  Good scenario for Rice would be 13 carries, 70 yards, and 1 touchdown.  A couple of receptions wouldn’t hurt for PPR leagues.
  • Peyton Manning – I really hate to put him on this list because every knows he is going to go off. However, looking at all of the match-ups, I couldn’t help to keep coming back to this one. He is playing at home against a defense that gives up the forth most passing yards in the NFL.  They give up a over 400 yards total per game and if Peyton can do that with a good defense, what will he do with this one. Yeah they have a high-powered offense, but not sure if they can keep up with Manning, but it should be fun to watch.  If the Eagles are able to score and keep them in the game, it could get really interesting for Peyton and his fantasy numbers. Obviously, every owner is starting him so there is not question about that, but how much can he pile it on is the real question.
