Going Yard – Week 6 Fantasy Game Changers

The Chargers closed the lights out on the Colts and the NFL week 6 games with their win in San Diego.  Rivers didn’t quite have a huge fantasy game, but oddly most quarterbacks came back down to earth, while a couple of new faces appeared near the top of the boards.  Let’s take a look at the fantasy football game changers for week 6 and see which are players Going Yard.

Top quarterback fantasy performances for week 6.

  • Nick Foles – Filling in for the injured Mick Vick, Foles led the way in week 6 with 296 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.  That is kind of surprise given that the Bucs passing defense isn’t that bad.  If he continues to start and puts up these kind of numbers, he would be a reliable bye week option.
  • Cam Newton – As we had mentioned in the First and Five QB segment for week 6, Cam delivered a great performance and really helped fantasy owners this week.  We had predicted that he would go for 280 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 40 rushing yards, and it wasn’t that far off. He had 242 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 30 rushing yards.  He will continue to be a match-up option and could put up great numbers on certain weeks.
  • Matthew Stafford – Really came threw this week for owners in touchdown only leagues. He put up 4 touchdowns on 248 passing yards. It was quite a nice performance and they almost every bit of it for the win.  He will always be an every week start and there is no reason to think otherwise.
  • Andy Dalton – The Red Rocket fired off some shot in week 6 and hit buzz-eyes on quite a few. He put up 337 passing yards with 3 touchdowns on the road to get a win in overtime. He has come a long way and it is starting to show as the Bengals are alone at the top of the their division. He would be a good play in deeper leagues and on good match-ups.  The Bills don’t have one of the top-rated pass defenses and give up about 270 yards on average.

Top wide receiver fantasy performances for week 6.

  • Justin Blackmon – As we mentioned highlighted in the First and Five WR for week 6, Blackmon went off and gave fantasy owners something to smile about. We said he could have 150 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he didn’t quite disasppoint, but didn’t get into the end-zone. Nonetheless, his 14 catches for 190 yards league the NFL for week 6 and he should continue to see this kind of production going forward. He would be a must start in all formats.
  • Vincent Jackson – Another receiver that we called out as being one of the best for week 6 came threw with a huge game. In the First and Five we said he could have 10 catches for 90 and 1 touchdown, but in fact, he came in with 9 catches for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s great when they hustle for those extra yards. He will continue to be an every week starter in all formats.
  • Brandon Marshall – He really helped fantasy owners in week 6 with his 2 touchdown performance with 9 catches and 87 yards. It was classic Marshall and owners were happy to see the red-zone targets. There is no question he starts every week.
  • Keenan Allen – He showed up in a big way again for the Chargers with 9 catches for 107 yards and 1 touchdown. Fresh off the wire, this guy is the real deal and will continue to produce good fantasy points each week. He now has back-to-back 100 yard game in his young career following an 80 yard game in week 4 when he first came in on a regular basis. There is no reason not to play him as a WR2 at this point and he will be a go-to weapon for Rivers and the Chargers.

Top running back fantasy performances for week 6.

  • Knowshon Moreno – He came in with  a big game for fantasy owners rushing for 3 touchdowns on 15 carries. He only got 45 yards, but that didn’t matter because he saw pay dirt 3 times. He should be a good RB2 for most leagues and a RB1 for deeper leagues.
  • Marshawn Lynch – Beastmode once again. He rushed for 2 touchdowns on 21 carries with 77 yards. He continues to anchor that team and really helps with everything else that they want to do. They need to continue feeding the beast in order to move the ball and open up their game.  He is a must start as RB1 in all formats no matter what.
  • Jamaal Charles – He is the perfect back for Alex Smith and they are a great team together. They have really put together something like what Smith had with the niners and Charles is now the recipient of the short game that the Chiefs play. He is catching a lot of balls and getting the ball in open space. He had 78 yards on 22 carries with 2 touchdowns for week 6. He will be a RB1 in all formats.
  • Brandon Jacobs – He looks like he will be a waiver favorite for this week. He rushed like he was twenty-five again. He carried the ball 22 times for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns in week 6. It looks like he has cemented himself back into that offense, but keep in mind that Brown will be coming back shortly and that should take away a great deal of carries from Jacobs.
