First and Five – Week 9 Wide Receiver Starts

It seems like the Cowboys have been involved in some of the bigger games this year in terms of fantasy points. They obviously had that huge point game with the Broncos resulting in the 4th highest total of all-time, but 4 out of their 8 games scored over 50 plus points, and 3 of them over 60 points.  The team currently ranks dead last in passing yards allowed per game, but their offense can also put up a lot of points so that can help balance things.  This is also why they are only a 500 football team at this point.  There will be some players in that Cowboys game getting points and one will be in the week 9 First and Five wide receiver starts.

Top fantasy football wider receiver for week 9 based on match-up.

  • Dez Bryant – Its easy to sit back and pick one of the best receivers in the game, but it’s also his match-up that makes it so special. He is playing the Vikings, who give up the 4th most passing yards per game and the tied for the 2nd most passing touchdowns in the league. He is playing at home so there should be little noise to disrupt the offense and that will make it even better for Bryant to go off and have a huge game. This could be another 2 touchdown game with well over 100 yards.

Five more wide receivers who have good match-ups in week 9.

  • Greg Jennings – He’s had double digit targets in 2 of the past 3 games and he is playing against the team that gives up the most passing yards per game in the NFL. It’s a good chance the Vikings will be down and will be forced to throw the ball and that will give plenty of chances for Jennings to make some plays. He has 2 touchdowns over the past 4 games and the Cowboys are tied for the 3rd highest total in passing touchdowns on the year. It’s a good chance Jennings gets near 100 yards and records a touchdown this week.
  • Steve Smith – He playing against the team that is tied for the second most passing touchdowns in the league, and he leads in the team in both receptions and touchdowns. It’s a good chance he gets into the end-zone this week and he could up near 80 yards on about 7 catches.
  • Denarius Moore – It’s hard not to like a guy that leads the team in receiving yards, touchdown, and receptions.  Thrown in that he has a great match-up in fantasy and you’ve got a winner. He is playing against the Eagles at home, which means there will be a lot of points going around for the Raiders and Moore would be inline to receive that benefit. The Eagles give up the second most passing yards in the league, and the 4th highest total in touchdowns. Moore is their leading weapon in the air so it makes sense to play this guy as WR1 this week with 100 yard receiving day and 1 touchdown at least coming in.
  • Dwayne Bowe – This could be the week that teams go back over Dwayne Bowe. He is playing the team that gives up the most passing touchdowns in the NFL, and is the team’s leading receiver in touchdowns and receptions. He should be able to get into the end-zone this week and would be a decent WR2 option for most leagues.
  • Pierre Garcon – He is playing against the Chargers this week and leads the team in receptions and yards. The Chargers have the highest average percentage of passes completed in the NFL.   Garcon should have no problem getting open and making some plays and with his abilities.  He could be able to get at least 100 yards in this game and could score a touchdown.
