Week 12 Hot Off The Wire

With the playoffs quickly approaching, teams starting to position themselves, it’s important not to lose sight of the day-to-day activities that are needed to win a championship.  Having just taken a few days off and beginning to take a look at this week’s match-ups, I’m feeling a little disconnected and eager to get back into it so that I don’t lose focus.  In most leagues, the trade deadline has past and so now it’s up to the team and the wire to help secure the final wins needed.  Looking at the wire, there are some interesting moves starting to brew that could be a good options during the playoffs. Let’s take a look at the fantasy players that will be Hot Off The Wire in week 12.

Top fantasy football waiver pickups for week 12.

  • Bobby Rainey – It looks like he was picked up in every single league in fantasy football in week 12. He’s been added in hundreds of thousands of leagues for good reason.  He is going to get the ball a lot for the Bucs and he can do something with it. If you were fortuniate to get him, great, start him. If not, don’t worry, there are some other options.
  • Monte Ball – He got the call on the goal-line for the Broncos and ended up with 3 touchdowns. He has slowly been working his way into the offense more and could be a decent option in the playoffs if he continues to put up the good numbers.
  • Dennis Pitta – He was a top 5 tight end last year and he is getting cleared to practice again after an off-season surgery back in July.  If he continues to progress, he could be ready just in time for the fantasy playoffs and could be a really good TE option down the stretch.
  • Michael Floyd – After having a huge game in week 11, Floyd is getting a lot of adds for week 12, and although he has been pretty consistent this year, expecting the same type of performance wouldn’t be wise.  At best he could see 6 catches for 80 yards.  The Colts passing defense is actually pretty good and he is also banged up this week.
  • Jerricho Cotchery – Catching touchdowns 3 straight weeks will certainly get a lot of fantasy owner’s attention, and the fact that he is getting consistent work makes him a decent option as well.  He could easily see 4-6 catches each game and with the opportunities, could get decent yards and maybe a red-zone target, which isn’t a bad day for a WR3.
  • Josh McCown – With the injury to Cutler lingering, McCown is getting another start and could put up decent numbers for QB.  It’s not the best match-up so if there are other options like Mike Glennon, then he would be a better route this week.
