Week 13 Hot Off The Wire

This will be the final week of the regular season for most fantasy leagues with the playoffs starting in week 14 for 12 team leagues that include 6 into the playoffs. For a lot of traditional leagues that use only 4 playoff spots, the regular season could go as late as week 15, but every league that play in start the playoffs in week 14.  Going into the final week means locking up the playoff spot and making sure you’re team is ready for a playoff run.  There will be some key players to look out for on the waiver wire so let’s take a look at who is going to be Hot Off The Wire for week 13 and could help your fantasy playoffs.

Fantasy players to pick up on the waiver wire for week 13.

  • Michael Crabtree – The Niners coach said after the game on Monday night that Crabtree could play next Sunday, which means that there’s a good chance that a #1 WR is on the waiver wire right now in your league.  There’s also a good chance a savvy owner like myself, who picked him up a couple of weeks ago, already stashed him, but if not, then grab him now and get ready to use him during the playoffs. He will most likely get targeted between 5-10 times a game and could see red-zone targets regularly.
  • Nate Burelson – Nice to see him back on the field. As many outlets were reporting, he did start on Sunday and had a nice game catching 7 passes for 77 yards and 1 touchdown. He was the clear #2 for the Lions prior to his car accident earlier in the year. Now that is has recovered, expect him to see a good amount of targets each week and could be a low-end WR2 for deep leagues or a WR3 for leagues that play 3 receivers.
  • Julian Edelman– There was a Edelman sighting again. Please don’t go chasing touchdowns. Yes, he will have good games, but no you can’t count on it each week. The only ones you can count on in Gronk, Brady, and Got with the rest getting work when the match-up allows it.
  • Benny Cunningham – With Zac Stacy getting hurt in the game on Sunday, Benny came in and ran for over 100 yards on 13 carries including 1 touchdown. He looked good and filled in nice, but also suffered some sort of injury during the game himself. Both of him and Stacy look like they will be able to get work when they are healthy, but at this point there is no telling which one it will be. If Stacy is able to pass his tests this week he would most likely be the starting back, but if not, then Cunningham could be a good flex play.
  • Dennis Johnson – Curiously the coach of the Texans stuck with Johnson on Sunday after giving Tate a little break. He said he that Dennis just looked so good running the ball that he decided to stick with him. That means that he could be a serious threat to take over the lead ball carrier role for the Texans going into the fantasy playoffs. For owners of Tate, this would be a huge concern and one that should be looked at closely. They said that Tate will start next week, but it will be hard to trust him and having both might be a luxury one is not able to afford.
  • Brandon Bolden – It’s hard to get excited about any Pats running back. They are inconsistent and unable to sustain any fantasy value.  This past week because both Ridley and Blount fumbled the ball, the gave Bolden a bigger role with more carries. He was able to turn that into a nice fantasy day including 1 touchdown. Now he is getting adding because many think that the coach will stick with him, but he won’t. He never sticks with one guy. Don’t think he is going to be a fantasy gem in the playoffs and don’t waste a roster spot unless you have one to waste or you play in a 20 team league, which I have before.
