Week 5 Fantasy Deep Tight-end Flex Start

Every now and then I decide to stick my neck and see how well I’ve got this analysis done. I’m a die-hard football watcher and numbers cruncher, which is why I do so well at fantasy football. To me it’s not just about the stats, but about how well they play on the field. I understand which corners are making plays, which receivers are getting open, as well as who’s getting the chances, and then I put that altogether and figure out who I want to start. I love when I see a situation that I feel is going to develop for a guy that no one even knows yet. Every year I pick out a couple of gems and I think I’ve got one here that may pay dividends for more than one week. If you want to take a shot on a deep fantasy flex start player for week 5, then here’s some options that should get your attention.

If I told you there was a tight-end on the waiver wire right now that can get you 10-15 fantasy points this week, then you’d consider him a good option for the flex, right? Well, I’ve got one that should see at least that many in PPR leagues and could see that in standard scoring. He is facing a team giving up the second most catches, yards, and fantasy points to his position. He’s already been averaging 4 targets and 3 catches per game as the backup and this week he will get the start. This is an opportunity to show what he can do versus a team that gives up so many catches and yards to that position.

His name is Garrett Celek and he’s the brother to Brent Celek the tight-end for the Eagles. Garrett will be starting over old-timer Vernon Davis, who is ruled out for this game. Garret has been playing pretty consistently to start the year, even with Vernon in the game. This week he has one of the best match-ups possible as the Giants give up nearly as many fantasy points to the tight-end position as the Raiders do. He has been catching the ball well going his way and as long as he continues to do that he should decent a good amount of targets in this game given the match-up. I’d expect to see him get around 8-10 targets for 6-7 catches with around 80 yards and a possible score. It’s not a bad option if you think about it.
