Should Larry Johnson Ever Play Again
With the release of Chiefs running back Larry Johnson this week, it puts into question several things and means there may be some adjustments to fantasy teams going forward. However, the real question is will LJ find a new team and will he ever play again.
In the previous post we mentioned the the Chiefs running backs will be a good play during the playoffs. The only problem was that we aren’t sure who was gong to get the ball, until the release of LJ. This means that both the started Jamal Charles, as well as the back up Kolby Smith, should see some decent numbers the week of the playoffs and would be a good play for those that need a strong RB. Both are most likely on the wire, or up for trade so check around and see what you can do to get one of them.
As far as LJ goes, his numbers have been declining for the past couple of years and he has yet to bust a big gain for the entire year. This means that even if he finds a new team, he most likely will not start or produce significant numbers for a fantasy team. Personally, I had dropped him weeks ago in my leagues and will not pick him up again, unless he can show that he is ready to be an elite back like he was a few years ago. The likelihood of that happening is not good, so I would assume his days as a starter are now over.
