Quarterback Jay Cutler’s New Starting Job

Cutler's New HelmetJay Cutler has a new starting job with the Chicago Bears.  I for one am glad that Denver finally let him go.  It’s obvious that the trade rumors rubbed Jay the wrong way and I don’t think that Denver Coach McDaniels would have ever been able to win Cutler’s trust back; that bridge was burned.  Now, it looks like everyone is going to get a nice fresh start.  McDaniels will find a QB that he can mold and dictate.  Cutler will finally find out what it feels like to be on a team with a good defense.  I’m guessing the Bears have a better chance of making the play-offs this season.  I’d call it a sure thing if they actually had some brand name wide receivers, but they don’t, so it’s still iffy. Fantasy Football Quarterback Pickups: Old vs. New

Filed under: FantasyGirl, Football, Pickups, Trends by: fantasygirl

Fantasy QuarterbacksIf you want a good tip about Fantasy Football Quarterback Pickups, remember this: never draft a rookie QB as your starter.  Do you remember how excited everyone was about Arizona QB Matt Leinart, Tennessee QB Vince Young, Oakland QB Jamarcus Russel, and even Cleveland QB Brady Quinn?  Fantasy football managers couldn’t wait to draft them into their line-ups.  Big mistake.

Typically, NFL coaches make rookies sit on the bench a few years to study the veteran QB before he’s ever able to start a game.  If rookies do get lucky enough to start, it’s usually as a fill-in for an injured veteran.  The great QBs of today like New England QB Tom Brady, Dallas QB Tony Romo, Denver QB Jay Cutler, San Diego QB Philip Rivers, and New Orleans QB Drew Brees, all watched, studied, and absorbed from the bench before they were able to start and finish a game with notable success.  In the last few years, it seems as if more coaches are taking their chances with rookie quarterbacks. Fantasy Football Jewel: A Good Tight End

Filed under: FantasyGirl, Football, Pickups, Trends by: fantasygirl

On Monday nights, some of us are trailing in fantasy points hoping that our remaining players do something worthy enough to squeak by a win.  Monday night’s Titans vs. Colts proved that a good tight end can be a boon to any fantasy football team.  Dallas Clark, the Colt’s starting tight end, racked up the points with 7 receptions, 94 yards, and 2 TDs.  If you have a good tight end on Monday night football, it does wonders for your optimism and gives you a better chance than most. The Hell with Fantasy Projections!

Filed under: FantasyGirl, Football, General Sports, Projections by: fantasygirl

The hell with projections.  I say TRUST YOUR GUT and YOUR BRAIN.  Projections are BS.  They are nothing more than a conglomeration of mathematical stats of the past, which can not predict the future.  There are many times when players had high or low projections and ended up with something different.  A computer can’t analyze a team’s passion or loss of morale.  It can’t predict possible injuries.  Moreover, it can’t compensate for unforeseen circumstances.  However, you can.  Read more…
