Twins | Still being cautious with Justin Morneau
The Minnesota Twins continue to be cautious with 1B Justin Morneau (concussion) and consistently say there is no timetable for his return, according to MLB.com’s Kelly Thesier. The team wants to continue to let Morneau work out at his own pace. “We all know the Morneau situation,” manager Ron Gardenhire said. “We’re not making plans either way. Indians | Matt LaPorta’s hip injury not serious
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians 1B Matt LaPorta (hip) is listed as day-to-day after straining his left hip Sunday, Aug. 29, reports the Akron Beacon Journal’s Sheldon Ocker. ”I did it when I landed, taking the first pitch,” he said. ”I felt something kind of pop. I don’t think it’s anything major.” LaPorta had surgery on the same hip last year, but manager Manny Acta doesn’t believe it’s related to the surgery. ”This is muscular, on the outside,” Acta said. ”So I don’t think it’s related to the surgery.” LaPorta said there could be a little correlation between this injury and last year’s surgery in that his hip is weaker. – More Sports
