Top 8 QBs for the NFL 2009 Fantasy Season

1084749_football1. Drew Brees: Brees was simply the best quarterback in the NFL last year, and he’s a superstar. Especially when it comes to fantasy leagues. Brees had a handful of monster games last season, and it’s safe to say that this season should be no different. Bonus points when you factor in Colston’s return.

2. Tom Brady: I’d be tempted to put him at #1, but his rustiness could be an issue at the beginning of the season and it remains to be seen how well he’s recovered from injury. He’s looked strong in the preseason, but that’s no sure thing. Now that we’ve thrown out the risk factors, Brady is a fantasy stud and could easily be the best in football. Read more…

6953Vintage stuff from John Lackey, who got his 100th ever win for the Angels. He allowed merely five hits and one ER, though it was based on an error by a teammate.

This provided the Angels with a much wanted win. The franchise had gone down in 2 of the first 3 contests in its meetings with the Athletics. Read more…

Another Spoiled Football Player

Filed under: Football, General Sports, News, Projections by: Ralph Sanchez

200px-BrandonmarshallWho didn’t predict this a mile away? I was certain that the instant your teammate and fellow crybaby, Jay Cutler, was traded you were going to throw a temper tantrum like a spoiled little child who couldn’t have ice cream. You must grow up!

Brandon, you encompass all the skill in the world and you are blowing it! How many idle Americans (myself included) would die for the insane amount of money you earn undeservedly. Read more…

Six Underrated Fantasy Baseball Players

Filed under: Baseball, Baseball Trends, Hot Players by: Lance Baker

BoysBaseballAll too often in fantasy baseball, people go after the big names. While many big names can give great stats, there are smaller names who don’t stand out in any one category, but give a nice balance of stats across the board. These stats are often as valuable (if not more) as the stats put up by bigger names. Let’s look at some of these players. Read more…

Avoid Adrian Peterson, Take Michael Turner

apphoto If you are lucky enough to get the coveted first spot in your fantasy football league this year, take Turner. I know what you’re thinking. What about Adrian Peterson? He is sick. The guy is freakier than Paula Abdul in room full of young male singers. He’s got explosion, speed, and the necessary power to punch it in at the goal line. He is a stud. Read more…

Remembering the 1996 Patriots NFL Season

Filed under: Football, General Sports, News by: Britt Karp

This was a great team, with players like Vinatieri, Law, Bruschi, Brown, and others all of who would be a part of the team’s greater success during the next decade. Having had season tickets to the Patriots, I saw all of these players every time they set foot on the field at Foxboro, as they progressed from inexperienced rookies to Patriots legends. Read more…

NY Giants Beat Carolina On Last Second Fumble Return For TD

Filed under: Football, General Sports, News by: Ross Everett

The NFL couldnt have scripted a better ending to their first nationally televised Monday Night Football contest of the year. New York Giants rookie Tommie Hill returned a fumble 18 yards for a touchdown with 0:00 on the clock to break open a tie game and give his team a 24-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers in NFL preseason action .

Carolinas fourth string QB Hunter Cantwell was in a position where he just had to take a knee and run out the clock on first and 10 from his eighteen yardline. Instead, he tried to throw a pass only to have his arm hit forcing a fumble. Hill grabbed the loose ball and headed to the endzone for the shockingly bizarre finish and a Giants victory. Read more…

Manny’s Back Into Action

m_ramirez2Manny’s back into action.  The most well-known player to ever get suspended during a season for 50 games because of failing a league required drug test is not back on the field and pretty much picking up where he left off. If there was ever any doubt about Manny Ramirez’s hitting skills, he is certainly putting the critics to rest with his play since returning to action Read more…

5665With the half way point quickly approaching, let’s take a look at some surprises so far this year, as well as some surprises to look out for.  Fantasy baseball surprises come up all the time as players lose their jobs, new players gain jobs, and some players just get hot and cold.  Adjustments have to be made to teams to stay competitive, but don’t react to hasty to every little report or injury to your team.  A fantasy team’s chemistry is just as important with fantasy baseball as it is in the real world. There are times when owners just have to be confident that their players will turn it around and make the necessary moves to get back to where they are expected, but there are always surprises.
