Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers debuted a nickel alignment in practice Monday, Aug. 2, that featured LB Brandon Chillar at right outside linebacker and inserted LB Desmond Bishop in at one of the two inside linebacker spots. LB Clay Matthews Jr. also moved over to left outside linebacker in place of LB Brad Jones (back), who is out indefinitely with a back injury. “Chillar is definitely a player that has the ability to play a number of different positions,” head coach Mike McCarthy said. “As far as the outside linebacker position, he gives you flexibility, both in the base and the subpackages because he has rush ability.” The move suggests Green Bay might feel more comfortable with Chillar and Bishop rather than Chillar and LB Brady Poppinga, who has yet to show much of a pass rush during camp. – Read More
