Fantasy Baseball Surprises and Off Starters

Posted by Commish On April - 25 - 2010

Fantasy baseball in 2010 has a couple of surprises to start the season and a couple of early season busts that are making owners contemplate dropping them for available starters. Although this may be a good thing for some teams, it’s not always the best case of the long run. Baseball is a sport of failure, and it owners have to be patient with their teams.  Knowing that players will have hot and cold streaks from time to time, it’s best not to put to much on early season starts and if your player is on these list it doesn’t indicate that the season may continue in the same fashion. While we’re in the midst of a lag between baseball seasons, there’s been a considerable amount of action worth discussing. With a number of exciting names in the mix, this should come as no surprise.

The Most Likely Fantasy Football Busts at Tight End

Posted by Luke Nascent On October - 12 - 2009

The Most Likely Fantasy Football Busts at Tight End photoKellen Winslow. eventually, the move to Tampa Bay to play with the Buccaneers ought to rejuvenate his career.  In 2009, with so a bunch of uncertainty at the QB role, it’s probably sound to assume he won’t be generating stats similar to ’07. However, he ought to be a viable target for Byron Leftwich, in addition to a safety net for Josh Freeman (as soon as he’s prepared), so his catch total may be decent.

The following are more Fantasy Football Tight Ends that could be busts for fantasy football owners. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 8 QBs for the NFL 2009 Fantasy Season

Posted by Ernie Wu On September - 8 - 2009

Top 8 QBs for the NFL 2009 Fantasy Season photo1. Drew Brees: Brees was simply the best quarterback in the NFL last year, and he’s a superstar. Especially when it comes to fantasy leagues. Brees had a handful of monster games last season, and it’s safe to say that this season should be no different. Bonus points when you factor in Colston’s return.

2. Tom Brady: I’d be tempted to put him at #1, but his rustiness could be an issue at the beginning of the season and it remains to be seen how well he’s recovered from injury. He’s looked strong in the preseason, but that’s no sure thing. Now that we’ve thrown out the risk factors, Brady is a fantasy stud and could easily be the best in football. Six Underrated Fantasy Baseball Players

Six Underrated Fantasy Baseball Players photoAll too often in fantasy baseball, people go after the big names. While many big names can give great stats, there are smaller names who don’t stand out in any one category, but give a nice balance of stats across the board. These stats are often as valuable (if not more) as the stats put up by bigger names. Let’s look at some of these players. Read the rest of this entry »

Why Isn’t Joe Rooke of The Year? – Fantasy Football 2009

Posted by Commish On January - 11 - 2009

Why Isnt Joe Rooke of The Year? Fantasy Football 2009 photoI’m watching the playoffs this weekend and noticing a few things that may help my fantasy football 2009 team.  One, Joe Flacco is certainly a better QB that many give him credit for.  In fact, I’m wondering why isn’t Joe rookie of the year.  Where is Matt at these days.  Not that they both didn’t have good years, and maybe over the course of the season Matt did enough to deserve the award, but why was Joe not even considered.  There wasn’t one vote for him as the #1 candidate for Rookie of the Year, despite being one of two rookies to play every game and lead their team to the playoffs. The Hell with Fantasy Projections!

Posted by fantasygirl On October - 20 - 2008

The hell with projections.  I say TRUST YOUR GUT and YOUR BRAIN.  Projections are BS.  They are nothing more than a conglomeration of mathematical stats of the past, which can not predict the future.  There are many times when players had high or low projections and ended up with something different.  A computer can’t analyze a team’s passion or loss of morale.  It can’t predict possible injuries.  Moreover, it can’t compensate for unforeseen circumstances.  However, you can.  Read the rest of this entry »
